New CAT-DEV System Update

The following steps describe how to update the SDK version of a new CAT-DEV MP system regardless of the SDK firmware version currently installed.

Update Your CAT-DEV System

Use the following steps to update a CAT-DEVs SDK firmware version.

  1. Open a cafe.bat shell command.
  2. Observe whether cafe.bat prints a version mismatch diagnostic message that is similar to the following.
!!! Your CAT-DEV is not at the same level as this SDK. !!!
    SDK Version: 2.12.04 CAT-DEV SDK Version: 0.0.0
!!! Please run cafeupdate to get them in sync. !!!

  3. Using the CAT-DEV SDK Version number obtained in the previous step, choose one of the following options:
    1. If the CAT-DEV SDK Version number listed is anything other than 0.0.0, update the CAT-DEV by using the steps in the CAT-DEV System Upgrade Using cafeupdate section.
    2. If the CAT-DEV SDK Version number listed is 0.0.0, update the CAT-DEV by using the steps in the CAT-DEV System Upgrade Using the One-Shot Updater section.

CAT-DEV System Upgrade Using cafeupdate

Use cafeupdate with the following instructions to upgrade or downgrade the SDK version on your CAT-DEV.

IMPORTANT:
Prior to running cafeupdate, ensure that the CAT-DEV System Mode is set to Development mode. In the System Config Tool, the System Mode setting is found in the Boot Configuration menu. This step is not necessary on a new, factory-shipped, unit.

Additionally, the CAT-DEV and PC environment must be in PCFS mode. For more information, see cafex setbootmode.
  1. From a cafe.bat shell command prompt in the target SDK, type cafeupdate, and then press ENTER.
