Copy Titles from One USB Storage Device to Another

The following describes how to copy a title from one USB storage device to another that are attached to a CAT-DEV system.

To copy titles using the System Config Tool command line on a CAT-DEV or CAT-R

  1. Insert the source USB storage device into one of the USB ports on the CAT-DEV or CAT-R, and then verify that the title to be copied is on the device. If not, install the title on the USB storage device following the instructions in Install Titles on the USB Storage Device.
  2. Insert the target USB storage device into one of the USB ports. The target USB storage device must be formatted in WFS. For instructions to format the USB storage device, see Format the USB Storage Device.
  3. Navigate to the folder where you installed the Cafe SDK, and then double-click cafe.bat. The Cafe Cygwin shell opens.
  4. At the Cafe Cygwin shell command prompt, type cafeon and then press ENTER. This temporarily disables background processes for System Config Tool and is necessary to ensure correct USB functionality.
    WARNING:
Do not press CTRL+C after the CAT-DEV reboots.
  5. In the System Config Tool command window, type sys_mode 1. This sets the system mode to Development, which is necessary for the feature to work.
  6. At the command prompt, type restart and then press ENTER.
  7. At the command prompt, type copy <source> <target> to copy the title from the source USB storage device to the target USB storage device. For example:
    copy /vol/usb01/usr/title/0005000011aaaa00 /vol/usb02/usr/title/0005000011aaaa00

To recursively copy of all the files and directories under /vol/usb01/usr/title/00050000/ to /vol/usb02/usr/title/00050000/:
    copy /vol/usb01/usr/title/00050000/ /vol/usb02/usr/title/00050000/

    WARNING:
If the parent directory does not exist on the destination volume, then copy command fails. Use mkdir command to create the parent directory, and then start the copy.
  8. To flush the title permanently from the source USB storage device, at the command prompt, type volflush [source]. For example:
    volflush /vol/usb01

  9. Remove the source USB storage device. Try launching the title from the target USB storage device.
